Different types of sharks

These free printable science worksheets are for personal use and classroom use only and are aimed at elementary school students in 1st – 3rd grade. Please scroll to the bottom of the post for the pdf file.

This worksheet introduces kids to ten types of sharks, each with unique characteristics. The fun shark facts are also used in the who am I worksheets:

  1. Angel Shark: Recognizable by its flat body and wide pectoral fins, resembling a ray.
  2. Black Tip Reef Shark: Identified by the distinct black tips on its fins, commonly found in shallow tropical coral reefs.
  3. Blue Shark: Known for its beautiful blue color and long, slender body, often seen gliding through open waters.
  4. Bull Shark: Capable of living in both saltwater and freshwater, often found far inland from the ocean in rivers and lakes.
  5. Great White Shark: Famous for its ability to detect a drop of blood in 25 gallons of water and sense tiny amounts of blood up to 3 miles away.
  6. Hammerhead Shark: Notable for its uniquely shaped head, which offers enhanced sensory perception.
  7. Lemon Shark: With a yellowish hue, it camouflages well in sandy tropical waters.
  8. Leopard Shark: Easily identified by its dark spots and saddle-like markings.
  9. Nurse Shark: A slow-moving bottom-dweller, often resting in groups on the ocean floor.
  10. Tiger Shark: Known as the “garbage can of the sea,” it eats almost anything, from fish and seals to birds and even tires.
