What is the circulatory system?
The circulatory system is the body’s essential network for transporting blood, oxygen, and nutrients. It includes the heart, blood vessels, and blood, working together to sustain every cell in the body.
The heart is a muscular organ, about the size of a fist, that acts as the central pump. It contracts and relaxes rhythmically to push blood throughout the body, ensuring oxygen and nutrients reach all cells.
Veins carry blood back to the heart, equipped with valves that ensure blood flows in the right direction, preventing backflow.
Arteries transport blood away from the heart. Their thick, strong walls can withstand the high pressure as the heart pumps blood out, delivering oxygen and nutrients to various parts of the body.

Label parts of the circulatory system
This circulatory system labeling worksheet introduces young learners to three important parts of the circulatory system: the vein, heart, and artery.
With a clear, labeled diagram, students can begin to understand where each part is located and what it does.
The worksheet includes a word bank featuring the terms vein, heart, and artery to help students identify and label each part correctly.
As they match each label to its place on the diagram, they’ll learn that the heart pumps blood, veins bring blood back to the heart, and arteries carry blood away from it.
An answer key is included, so students can check their work or review with an adult.
This worksheet is a great way to introduce younger elementary students to basic anatomy, whether they’re learning in class or at home.
