How to use Twinkl Free Resources in Your Homeschool
Although Twinkl has a very reasonably priced subscription, we only use the Twinkl free resources in our homeschool now.
We previously had the subscription when my son was younger. But now we just use it for free.
Today we are reviewing their latest addition to the free teacher resources which is in partnership with the Tate Gallery.
Twinkl does offer a subscription which I recommend but they also have some of the best free homeschool curriculum options available.

Can you use Twinkl for Free?
Twinkl offers both free and paid resources on its website. Users can sign up for a free account which provides access to a limited selection of resources. However, some resources are only available through a paid subscription or by purchasing individual resources.
Twinkl offers different subscription options, including monthly and annual subscriptions. They also offer a free trial period, which allows users to access their full range of resources for a limited time.
It’s important to note that the availability of free and paid resources may vary depending on your location and the type of account you have with Twinkl. If you’re unsure about whether a particular resource is free or paid, you can contact Twinkl’s customer support team for more information.
Learn Fine Art with Free Teaching Resources from Twinkl
The Tate Gallery has partnered with Twinkl to create some fantastic free activities for KS1 and KS2. The artists are George Stubbs, Gwen John, and John Millais.
We have been studying all about George Stubbs. If I am honest, I had never heard of George Stubbs so this was definitely a topic we have worked on together.
I love art and we have lots of paintings around the house, but all are contemporary artists. Freddie also has a love of art, and we have a number of art books in our office. I often find him looking through the Banksy books we have just for fun.
If you are interested in the best homeschool art curriculum check out my recent post. Included are lots of FREE resources, but also full curriculums.
A lot of the Twinkl fact files come in three different ability levels, marked by stars at the bottom of the worksheet. We always opt for the 3 stars as we generally work with Twinkl in greater depth.
The George Stubbs Activity file in KS2 includes a KWL grid: What I know, What I want to know, What I have learned. A research map, a comparison activity sheet, and my powerful questions.
There is a lot to do on this artist and we spent about 2 hours today researching all about George Stubbs. Freddie decided what in particular he wanted to know about him and we asked Google!
So the first question was, how much is his artwork sold for.
£22.4 million was the record to date.
A lot of the worksheets from Twinkl that Freddie uses he does by himself, but if we are doing a topic we will go into the kitchen and discover new things together.
It’s a great way for him to bounce ideas around and he is always excited to tell me all about the new facts he has found out.
With this particular topic, he used the IPAD to research in greater depth. There was a fact file about him included in this free resource which tells you all about him and what he is famous for.
Not only did we enjoy researching all about George Stubbs we ended this lesson with a little drawing.
We did giggle a lot while Freddie was drawing this! He used a tutorial he found online for how to draw a horse and I have to say I think it looks brilliant! But we did laugh a lot!
We use a number of Twinkl Free resources in our holiday activities such as:
- Roald Dahl Day activities
- Remembrance Day Activities
- Bonfire Night Activities
- Talk Like A Pirate Day activities
Twinkl for Homeschooling
Twinkl was the very first online homeschool educational resource we used.
The reason we loved it to start with was mainly because it looked similar to the work Freddie had been doing at primary school.
Now of course I didn’t deregister Freddie from school to replicate it at home.
However, it certainly helped with the familiarity of the work.
As you have hopefully seen Twinkl offers a number of amazing free printables.
There are worksheets, test papers, coloring-in sheets, and unit studies, it really is great.

What can you suggest if all my son is interested in at present is his ipad. Interactive web is what he loves
Hi there are so many options, we love IXL for online learning. Check out my list of over 100 FREE resources and I am sure you will find something suitable. It is a lot of trial and error. Good luck 🙂
I haven’t heard of Twinkl but it sounds fantastic. It is great to know that they have free resources that we can use at any time. My eldest daughter likes drawing and she also watches videos on Youtube with tutorials on how to draw different things. It is great right! And I love his horse!
These look really good. Will have to check some out.
These look like great resources! And Freddie really seems to be enjoying the subject. Love the horse you can tell it’s galloping <3
