Classic memory match

  • Objective: Find matching pairs of cards.
  • How to play: Lay all cards face down in a grid. You’ll only need two of the pages for this game, so feel free to choose your favorites or switch them up. Players take turns flipping two cards at a time, aiming to match a math problem with its answer or a set of objects with the correct number. If they find a match, they keep the pair and take another turn. The game continues until all pairs are matched, with the player holding the most pairs declared the winner.

Timed challenges

  • Objective: Find as many matches as possible within a set time limit.
  • How to play: Set a timer (like 5 minutes), and have players find pairs as quickly as they can. This fast-paced version encourages quick thinking and can be played solo or in teams, making it great for building speed and confidence in solving math problems.

How to print and prepare the math matching game

Getting your printable math memory game ready is easy—and adding a few extra touches can make it more fun and long-lasting for your kids.

For best results, print the cards on cardstock or heavy-weight paper. They’ll hold up better through repeated play (trust me, ours have been through a lot).

Laminating the cards helps them resist spills, bends, and tears—especially helpful if you plan to reuse them in a classroom or over multiple math units.

A paper cutter makes trimming quicker and neater, but scissors work fine too. If you’re cutting by hand, I’ve found it helps to cut in rows first, then trim into individual cards.

Want to make it more fun? Let your kids help decorate the backs of the cards with stickers or stamps. It gives them ownership and adds excitement before you even start playing.
