Fun and interesting facts about the World that kids might enjoy:

  1. The tallest mammal in the world is the giraffe. They can grow up to 18 feet tall!
  2. The largest animal in the world is the blue whale. They can grow up to 100 feet long and weigh as much as 200 elephants!
  3. The smallest mammal in the world is the bumblebee bat. They weigh less than a penny!
  4. The Great Wall of China is so long that you could walk on it for more than a year.
  5. The world’s largest hot desert, the Sahara, is so big that it could fit the entire United States inside it.
  6. The world’s largest waterfall, Victoria Falls in Africa, is twice as tall as Niagara Falls.
  7. The fastest land animal in the world is the cheetah. They can run up to 70 miles per hour!
  8. The slowest animal in the world is the sloth. They move so slowly that algae can grow on their fur.
  9. The world’s largest flower is the Rafflesia. It can grow up to 3 feet in diameter!
  10. The world’s smallest reptile is the tiny chameleon called the Brookesia Micra. It can fit on the tip of a matchstick!

Learn to say hello around the world

There are 10 ways to say hello in 10 different languages, and the children need to label the correct greeting with the correct language.

  • Bengali – Assalam Waleykum

Flags of the World printable worksheets

This fun match the flag worksheet is a lot of fun. The children need to research what colors to color in the maps.

When they have colored them in correctly, they need to add a line to the correct country.

The flags included are:

  • Vatican City. The smallest country in the world
  • Nato. NATO’s purpose is to guarantee the freedom and security of its members through political and military means. 
  • Antarctic Treaty. The Antarctic Treaty aims to maintain the demilitarization and peaceful use of Antarctica, encourage scientific collaboration, and avoid territorial conflicts.
  • Antarctica (unofficial). There is no official flag of Antarctica since it is not a country nor governed by any authority. 
  • United Nations. The United Nations is an intergovernmental organization that strives to promote world peace and cooperation, foster friendly relationships between nations, and coordinate global action.
  • Commonwealth of Independent States. It is a regional intergovernmental organization that was established in 1991 following the dissolution of the Soviet Union. It covers a vast area of over 7 million square miles and has an estimated population of nearly 240 million.
  • League of Arab States. There are 22 member states whose main objectives include promoting economic and cultural cooperation. Safeguarding the sovereignty and independence of its members, and promoting peace and stability in the region.
  • Europe. The European flag symbolizes both the European Union and, more broadly, the identity and unity of Europe.
  • Commonwealth. A political association of 56 member states. The vast majority of which are former territories of the British Empire. 
  • South Pacific Commission. An international development organization governed by 27 members. Including 22 Pacific island countries and territories around the Pacific Ocean.

Continents and Oceans word search

The words related to continents and oceans can be found, horizontally, vertically, diagonally, frontwards, or backward! Just to make it that much more difficult.

I have also added the word search answers, as some of the words are a little tricky to find!

Tip: I recommend either using a highlighter pen or circling around the letters. Do not cross the letters out if you have found a word, as it may be used in another word!
