These acrostic poem templates spell out, St Patrick, shamrock, and leprechaun, but you don’t need to just write an Irish themed poem!

What is an acrostic poem?

An acrostic poem spells out a word or phrase with the first letter of each line.

Typically related to the poem’s subject or theme.

Each line serves as a clue, and the poem’s structure reinforces its message.

Acrostic poems can be written on any topic and are used for creative writing or to reinforce learning.

More importantly, they are a really fun way to introduce poetry to kids.

Examples of a St Patrick’s Day acrostic poem

This is an example of a St Patrick’s Day acrostic poem:

Shamrocks, symbols of Ireland’s pride,
Traditional parades with joy and pride,
People dressed in green from head to toe,
A toast to heritage, with laughter and woe,
Tunes from pipes and drums fill the air,
Remembering Ireland’s history and care,
Irish eyes smiling, so bright and bold,
Celebrating with food, drink, and stories told,
Keeping traditions alive, year after year,
Saint Patrick, the patron saint, brings cheer,
