15 Free Printable Chore Cards for Kids To Earn Pocket Money

These free printables for kids are a great way to encourage the kids to help around the house and be responsible.
These outdoor chores are perfect for children aged 10 and older. But some of the activities, such as putting out the trash can be used with younger kids.
There are 15 chores included and are all outside of the house, which is why they are really aimed at older kids. But of course, depending on your situation they could be done with little ones.
These printable chore charts are a great way for both you and the kids to mark off each activity completed daily over a month period.
Help the kids keep track of the pocket money they will receive monthly with these printable cards.
These are a great way to teach the kids about financial literacy and real life, for example, if you don’t work as an adult you don’t get paid.

How much should I pay for chores?
How much you should pay your child for chores will vary depending on your personal family situation, and what the chore is.
Also, it depends on how old the child is, and how much help they would need.
Below is just an idea of how much you could pay for certain chores.
But you could say that the kids have to do a chore every day for a week before they get paid, like taking out the trash.

At what age should children start earning pocket money?
Children can start doing simple chores from a really young age. In fact, the sooner the better. And understanding kids chores by age can help determine appropriate tasks.
Doing chores for money though I advise waiting until the child is about 8 years old. That way they can start to understand money, saving, banking, etc.
The outdoor chore cards included are aimed at children aged 10 and above, but of course, if you feel the child is ready earlier, great.
You could use taking out the trash, and the recycling cards with younger children though.

The printable chore cards include the following chores the kids can do to earn pocket money:
- Wash the car
- Do the recycling
- Mow the lawn
- Hang the washing out
- Clean up after the dog
- Rake the leaves
- Walk the dog
- Sweep the path
- Take out the trash
- Water the plants
- Clean the windows
- Shovel the snow
- Chop the wood
- Cut the hedge
- Plant some seeds
Of course, these won’t all be appropriate for everyone, for example, we live in South Florida and would never see snow.
How to use?
Download the chore cards below. There are 5 pages included with 15 different chores included.
These chore cards for kids are free to print but are for personal use only. Scroll to the bottom of the post and add your email address to get the pdf file.
Each monthly chore card features the following:
- Name of the chore
- A picture of the chore
- Monday – Sunday
- Week 1 – 5 so you can use this for a full month.
I recommend telling the children before, how much money they will make if they complete each card.
Talk to the kids about how much money they would make each time they complete a chore, and let them decide which outdoor chores they want to do.
I like to write the amount on the back of each card with the rules.
Give the child the chore card/s at the beginning of the month and tick it off when the chore for the day has been completed.
At the end of the month, the child hands it in for payment.
The benefits of using chore charts include teaching children the value of responsibility and money management.
