LightSail for Homeschoolers Review
Explore our LightSail for Homeschoolers review and discover how this innovative educational platform can benefit your homeschooling journey.
Now, this is where my problem starts, as we homeschool we have loads of curriculum books, loads of workbooks, and even more reading books.
So I thought rather than buying a new house to keep all the books in, I would find an online homeschool reading program.
This is certainly one of the best homeschooling resources f you have no space for more books!
**Disclosure: I was compensated for my time to write this post. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own. I only share resources that I would use with my own family and those that I believe other homeschool families will enjoy. There may be affiliate links in this post.**

A foundation in the science of reading and writing combined with the experience of a team of home educators creates a family-friendly learning experience advancing skills in reading, writing, vocabulary, and fluency.

Homeschool Reading Program
Lightsail 4 Main Pillars of Literacy
Reading
When the child logs on to their platform the first thing they have to do is answer 30 reading comprehension questions to establish their Lexile score.
Depending on what score they achieve the relevant books at their level appear in the library. With over ten thousand books they are sure to find something they enjoy.

Writing
The writing program complements the reading assignments, and for us more importantly, they are in small chunks. So no struggling to write for hours at a time. What is also great is you can chat with your child through the platform.

Vocabulary
As the children have completed their Lexile rating when they first log into Lightsail, vocabulary is only included when they are ready.
It is an adaptive learning program, so when the child is ready for the next level, they have access to more relevant material.

Fluency
Of course, the other three pillars are important, fluency is something we have probably ignored.
Freddie is now 11 and I have to admit, I haven’t heard him read for at least a year. He has always enjoyed reading, and at bedtime, he will always read for about an hour before he falls asleep. Now of course, when we are doing our core curriculum he will read sections of the book, or whatever else it is. But this is nothing I have focussed on.
What is great with Lightsail is that the child can record themselves reading aloud, and send the recording to us, the parents!

Homeschool Online Reading Program
With over 10,000 books in the online library, you are sure to find something you like. This is just perfect timing for us as Freddie was stuck on the Book Bingo he was playing over the summer. He is sure to complete it all in the coming weeks with Lightsail.
